Jim Carrey plays a mean Grinch rejected by the world of Whoville – a tiny town that exists on a snowflake – and its residents. Living in seclusion, and fuming with spite and hatred of Christmas. This year – the Grinch decided he wants to stop Christmas all together, but someone comes in his way – a little girl named Cindy Lou Who. Cindy decides to help the Grinch love Christmas and show the town that there is more to the holiday than empty consumerism and material goods.

Jingle All the Way (1996)

Howard Langston is a busy mattress salesman at a busy store. In fact, he’s constantly so busy that he continuously disappoints his son. The final straw is when Howard misses his son’s Karate class. He promises to make it up to the boy by getting him a Turbo Man toy for Christmas. Unfortunately, this promise is made on Christmas Eve, when is impossible to buy the toy virtually anywhere. Howard cannot let his son down again, and will stop at nothing to keep his promise. This movie is both touching and hilarious starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as the desperate Howard.

The Holiday (2006)

Iris (Kate Winslet) lives in London, writes a wedding column for a newspaper, and is in love her co-worker – who does not feel the same way, and is in fact engaged to another woman. Amanda (Cameron Diaz) lives in Los Angeles, makes movie trailers, and has just found out her boyfriend, Ethan, has been cheating on her. Against all odds, the two women meet online on a house exchange website, and impulsively decide to swap homes for the holidays. After arriving at her new temporary home, Iris meets a wise screenplay writer who lives next door, who helps her build some self-esteem and allows her to fall in love with a film composer. Across the world, Amanda meets Iris’ brother, Graham, mends her broken heart, and falls in love.
