History officially renewed the hit TV show Vikings for a fourth season. The show is currently ranked number one in cable series on Thursday nights, and brings in about 4.3 million viewers per episode. Both critics and viewers alike praise Vikings for its intense and surprising story arches and visually stunning cinematography.

Vikings is an Irish/Canadian co-production created and written by Michael Hirst, Vikings follows the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok, a ruthless and brave warrior. Lothbrok is rumored to be the descendent of Odin, God of Warriors. He and his warrior brothers and sisters must face many enemies to protect themselves and what is theirs. Twisted with drama, passionate affairs, bloody battles, and difficult decisions Vikings is a must see show for all (IMDb 8.6).

The news of the show’s renewal for a fourth season was announced yesterday by EVP and General Manager of History and H2 Dirk Hoogstra with the following statement:

“’Vikings’ has raided the hearts of both audiences and critics establishing itself as one of the most compelling, visually stunning dramas on television. We are so proud of our immensely talented cast and crew led by Michael Hirst, whose intriguing storylines and pivotal arcs have the perfect balance of scope, smarts and bloodshed to keep our loyal fans watching and wanting more”.

There are still four episodes remaining in the third season of the show. Production on season four is set to start this spring in Ireland.
