It’s been thirteen years since we last saw The X-Files on television, and after years of rumors about the show’s return, we finally have confirmation that the series will be returning to FOX next year. The news of the show’s official resurrection was announced by Gary Newman and Diana Walden, CEOs of Fox Television Group, earlier today. Production for the six episode series will begin in the summer of 2015. Best, and most important of all – David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be reprising their roles as unforgettable FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Sana Scully.

Fans have been hoping for the return of The X-Files for over a decade now, and it looks like all of the waiting is finally going to be paying off. Series Creator, Chris Carter, said “I think of this as a 13-year commercial break”, and promises the show will be better than ever because “the good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, [this is] a perfect time to tell these six stories”.

We can’t wait to see what the creative geniuses behind this award-winning series come up with.
