Vin Diesel stood up on stage at CinemaCon and confirmed the news we were all expecting – the Fast & Furious franchise is continuing with Furious 8 which will be coming to theatres on April 14, 2017.

The news comes as no surprise to fans, considering Furious 7 has already raked in $1.16 billion at the worldwide box office. It took Furious 7 only 17 days to climb to the $1 billion mark, making it the fastest film to date to reach that amount in box office profit. The Avengers, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and Avatar all took 19 days to reach the milestone.

Furious 7 stars Paul Walker, who passed away in a car accident in 2013, alongside Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson, Ludacris, and Michelle Rodriguez. It is now playing in theatres worldwide. We can’t imagine Furious 8 surpassing the success of the seventh movie, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
